If you are just starting running and still adapting your form, the Velocity Nitro 4 is a solid choice. The cushioning and responsiveness are moderate — not too firm, not overly soft to cause instability, with adequate joint protection. It does not require any specific running technique, making it a beginner-friendly, safe-transition shoe. A reliable choice for your first running shoe.

The Puma Velocity Nitro 4 is a versatile daily trainer built on a full-length NITROFOAM nitrogen-infused midsole. The nitrogen-injected foam is light yet highly responsive, covering everything from daily jogging to long-distance training. Its 22/32mm stack with a 10mm drop follows a slightly heel-biased traditional geometry that gives heel strikers a stable ride. At around 250g it is lightweight for a cushioned trainer. The upper uses lightweight mesh, with some versions carrying a GORE-TEX waterproof membrane for bad weather. It suits daily jogging, daily training, commuting and long-distance work, and is especially recommended for runners who want one pair to cover many scenarios, or who want to experience nitrogen foam responsiveness at an accessible price.
