The 40K route goes deep into the western side of the Central Range, passing pristine forest roads, ridgelines and valleys, with surfaces including dirt, gravel and steep slopes. Cumulative climbing is considerable, and the race demands solid downhill technique, fuelling planning and night equipment, making it suitable for runners with trail experience.
