The Pacific Rift Valley Half Marathon is held in Hualien County and is one of eastern Taiwan's representative half marathons.
The course runs along the East Rift Valley, flanked by the Central Range on one side and the Coastal Range on the other, passing farmland, streams and distant mountains. The terrain is largely flat, but the distance is long and shelter scarce, so sun exposure and wind must be factored into pacing.
The mild climate suits autumn and winter racing.
